Our Fourth of July

Since the Fourth of July landed on a Sunday we had a weekend full of activities. First was a trip to the Zoo on Friday. It was military appreciation days, So we got in for free, which is very nice. Then on Saturday we spent the morning at the West Bountiful parade. We sat in our usual spot in front of Pony Haven. While we were waiting for the parade to start the girls were given free pony rides.

It was neat to see Marsha in the parade. This year she was part of the Grand Marshal's float.

Here is our little party. Waiting for more of the parade to pass us by.

Here are Lizzie and Sarah waving. It was so fun to watch Sarah this year. She definitely got into the parade spirit by grabbing candy and waving.

Here is more waving at the parade. Sarah loved waving her flag. They sure had a fun time at the parade.

Here are the girls enjoying their Popsicles. I think that they all had fun at the parade. Then after the parade, we then headed over to the West Bountiful City Park to see what kind of activities they had planned for after the parade. It was a disappointment. After that we headed over to my parent's house to have a barbaque and swimming fun with cousins and have a killer water fight. I think that Marie is part fish, she and her cousin Dalin were one of last ones out.

That was one of best Fourth of July's that I can remember.

Our Trip

For the past few months Brian has been working crazy hours and this weekend was one of the few weekends he has had off in a while. So we decided on going on a quick trip up to Little Big Horn Battlefield. On the way there we stopped at Independence Rock. I kind of remember going there when I was about eight years old on the way to Miles City MT. It was quite neat to see it.

Here is another picture of it I thought it turned out nice.

This picture was taken on the walking trail at Little Bighorn. It was a nice little walk. I really enjoyed being able to see it. All throw out the park there are markers as to where they believed that people were killed. Some of the markers were right close to the ridges and the roadway. We visited the park on June 25th and the battle took place on June 24 and 25 in 1876. I thought it was kind of neat to visit a place when an event took place. Somewhere near the park they had a reenactment of the battle. We didn't see that though.
Then on Sunday we made our way to Yellowstone. This trip was pretty uneventful as we were not constantly stopping for puking kids, potty breaks, and extremely messy diapers. While in Yellowstone we saw a total of 5 bears. We also got stuck by a Buffalo herd on the move by the West end of the park. We also got see Old Faithful erupting.
On our way home we drove around Firehole Lake Drive and saw some of the geysers there. It was a fun trip. I think that everybody had fun.

This is what I have been up to this week.

This week has been a very busy one for me. As most of you know I am a BIG procrastinator. So I have been putting this project off for a while now. I had known about this project for about month now, but like most big projects this too got pushed down to the last minute. Katherine's best friend lives across the street from us and her mom and I kept telling ourselves " It is only a First Grade activity. The car will be ruined by the end of summer."
So here is the final project. I think it turned out way cute.

On Monday Marie told me that her class and another class are learning about different decades during the week and she wanted to dress up for them. The next day was the 50's. If had known about it a couple of weeks ago, I could have asked my mom if she still had her poodle skirt that I had used for many years as a Halloween costume. Here is Marie dressed in 80's style.

Then on Tuesday was Lizzie's last day of preschool. So most of us got together at a park and had a end of the year party. It has been FUN for Lizzie to do this preschool. I'll sure miss these cute kids.

What fun times my kids had this week.

The Tree House Museum

Once a month my ward, they have an activity were they go and do different things around the area. The place they chose for April was going to The Tree House Museum in Ogden. Usually I am not able to go to these things for the fact that I have pre-school when they have it. On this day pre-school we scheduled a field trip here.

I really like The Tree House. It has really changed since I was there last, but there were a lot of things that staid the same. This is Sarah playing with one of her favorite things . Once she saw that there were dolls to take care in the pretend hospital she was in seventh heaven. The pretend hospital was upstairs.

The last time I was here they didn't have pretend horses to ride on. If so Marie would've been in seventh heaven. Lizzie had fun on the horse , but as you can see Sarah is a bit scared to be on the horse. Maybe when she is little older she won't be scared.

Here is Lizzie milking a fake cow.
Here is Lizzie enjoying her ride on the horse.

Here are Sarah and Lizzie pretending to be firefighters. I am so glad that they had so much fun. I think it was the best $ 7.00 I have ever spent on my kids.

Easter

Easter was low key this year. Since it landed on Conference weekend so I didn't get any new dresses for the younger girls. This one of the few years that we have colored eggs I thought that I better document this event.
Normally we would have an Easter egg hunt at my parents house on Easter, but this year we had it the week before since Laurel and Doug and family came to visit during Doug's Springbreak.

Here we are at our ward's annual Easter egg hunt. It was held at our park. The kids had fun at it. This year they had the Easter Bunny. As you can see it was fun for the kids.

Here I am trying to help out two of my kids. They had it divided by age groups, the older two girls in one group and the younger two in another group.

Sorry for the backwards post. I hope everyone enjoyed their Easter fun. We missed you Scott and Traci.

I finally have a blog!!!

After many many months and many many people begging me to get a blog. I have finally created one. This will be a simple blog. Don't worry I'll try to keep it up. It will be a snapshot of my daily life with my kids and family. I will not recap tv shows that I watch. I'll try not to bore anyone to tears. So everyone wish me luck!
